nova-Institute is a private and independent research institute which was founded in 1994. nova has a multidisciplinary and international team of more than 40 scientists. The company offers science-based research and consultancy with a focus on the transition of the chemical and material industry to renewable carbon. One of the main topis are therefore the possibilities to substitute fossil carbon with biomass, direct CO2 utilisation and recycling. nova offers a unique understanding to support the transition of your business into a climate-neutral future.
'''Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant''' is an independent state-of-the-art pilot and demonstration facility for bio-based products and processes. It is an open innovation pilot and demonstration facility for process development, scale-up and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes from lab to multi ton scale. BBEPP combines technologies (biomass pretreatment, biocatalysis, green chemistry, (gas)fermentation, biorefining and downstream purification) for advanced manufacturing of biobased products utilising a wide and flexible spectrum of modular unit operations. As such, a team of highly trained and experienced engineers and bioprocess technicians facilitates the translation of your biobased laboratory processes into viable industrial processes.

The aim of the Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI) is to support and speed up the transition from fossil carbon to renewable carbon for all organic chemicals and materials. RCI addresses the core problem of climate change, which is extracting and using additional fossil carbon from the ground that will eventually end up in the atmosphere. Companies are encouraged to focus on phasing out fossil resources and to use renewable carbon instead. The initiative wants to drive this message, initiating further actions by bringing stakeholders together, providing information and shaping policy to strive for a climate-neutral circular economy.

Process Development:
Renewable Carbon entails all carbon sources that avoid or substitute the use of any additional fossil carbon from the geosphere. Renewable carbon can come from the biosphere, atmosphere or technosphere – but not from the geosphere. Renewable carbon circulates between biosphere, atmosphere or technosphere, creating a carbon circular economy.

=== Vision<ref name=":0" /> ===
* Concept design
In order to fight climate change, we need to curb our consumption of fossil resources. Therefore, we need renewable carbon. Fossil carbon shall be completely substituted by renewable carbon, which is carbon from alternative sources: biomass, CO2 and recycling.
