Feedstock generally means a unprocessed raw material, that is used to produce something. It is basic material used to produce goods, finished products, energy, or intermediate materials that are feedstock for future finished products. In case of this project bio-waste is defined as a feedstock to be used and utilised via different conversion processes to produce energy, materials or other products.

Sorts of feedstock

Feedstocks within the project scope are

  • bio-waste
    • garden waste
      • ...
    • food waste
      • food production waste / side-streams
        • ....
        • meat production by-products
        • fish production by-products
        • dairy by-products (milk, buttermilk, whey, milk permeate, skim milk)
        • bakery waste
        • brewery by-products
      • food preparation waste / side-streams
        • ....
      • collected mixed food waste
    • mixed waste (part of municipal waste streams)

Additionally some types of biogenic feedstocks may also play a role:

  • biogenic fraction in wastewater
  • biogenic offgases (CO2, CO, methane)
