The Industrial Biotechnology group at NORCE has been working for more than a decade on the optimization of many different kinds of bioreactions for valorization of waste streams, bioconversion, and greenhouse gas utilization, both at lab-scale and at pilot/industrial-scale. Most recently, we have been responsible for establishing the <2000L scale demonstration of a circular two-step fermentation converting CO2 and H2 to acetate in the first fermentation and then converting that acetate to acetone in a second fermentation, as part of the EU Horizon 2020 PyroCO2 project.
