Dr. Jurjen Spekreijse is an expert on bio-based chemicals, materials and sustainability. He obtained his PhD in biobased chemistry at Wageningen University in the Netherlands on the topic of converting polyhydroxybutyrate to biobased drop-in chemicals. During his post-doc at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden, he studied the possibilities of bio-based metal-organic frameworks based on lignin derivatives.
Since 2017 Jurjen works at Biomass Technology Group (BTG) in an interdisciplinary team on a wide variety of topics including finding biobased production alternatives for current fossil based chemicals, assessing existing and producing new LCA and sustainability studies, market studies and road maps for the European biobased economy. His topics of interest include biobased chemicals, materials, biofuels and bioenergy.
